How to Convert video to MP4 using HandBrake for Mac

HandBrake is a free open-source program designed to convert MPEG video (including DVD-Video) into an MPEG-4 video file in .mp4 or .mkv containers.

Then how to convert DVD and videos such as MOV, FLV, VOB to MP4 for playback on iPod, iphone, Apple TV using HandBrake on Mac OS (and Snow Leopard)? Please follow steps as below:

Step 1. Download and launch HandBrake for Mac (the latest version is Handbrake 0.9.4). There will appear a dialogue box, ask you to load a source video or DVD. After choosing a source file, you could see an interface as follow:

Step 2. Set video Codec, your output video format, and choose MP4.

Step 3, Before starting conversion, you have a lot of work do to, such as video settings, audio settings, Chapters and so on, all of that depends on what players you will use to play the output video. Normally, HandBrake has presets of iPod, iPhone, Apple TV, but other players like PSP, Blackberry, iMovie, QuickTime, etc.

Last Step. Click Start to start video to MP4 conversion.
